ARM Ltd University of Liverpool Engineering Scholarship/Internship

Available only to Indian students pursuing the MSc Microelectronic Systems or the MSc Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications.

The deadline to apply is Monday 16 May 2011.

The ARM Scholarship Scheme is an opportunity for Masters students from India to gain paid work experience in the R&D department of a multinational company, and receive a generous scholarship.

This includes:
• a £6,200 R&D scholarship to cover fees and living expenses
• a guaranteed four-month internship (June - Sept 2011) with ARM R&D in Cambridge, UK with graduate intern level salary.

Students will also receive the Regional Award, worth £1,000, from the University of Liverpool.

Eligibility :


To be eligible for the award, you must be:
• from India
• holding an offer for the MSc(Eng) Microelectronic Systems (preferred) or MSc(Eng) Microelectronic Systems and Telecommunications
• holding a first class BE, BSc, ME, BTech degree in a relevant subject (ideally Computer Science with a good background in Computer Hardware).

You must also have:
• First class BSc, BE or BTech degree in a relevant subject (ideally Computer Science with a good background in computer hardware).
• A keen and demonstrable interest in research, computer architecture, parallel programming, security, compilers, operating systems, C and assembly languages, software virtual machines, algorithms and data structures.
• Experience and ability with prototyping/scripting languages, modifying and porting large software systems (OSs, compilers, simulators), parallel and SIMD programming, benchmarking and analysis.
• Good English language skills (minimum IELTS 6.5/TOEFL 230 + ER 4.0 or 70% in English at Standard XII from central or metro state boards).
• Relevant work experience in embedded systems, system on chip or IC design.

It is intended that selection interviews will be held at the offices of University representatives in India in May/June 2011.
From these interviews, short listed candidates will advance to a telephone interview with a Senior ARM engineer in July 2011.
